Should I choose B.E Computer Science or B.Sc Computer Science

Most of the students who had pursued Computer Science in their higher secondary , prefer studying Computer Science in their college as well. One of the questions raised by the Students is should I choose B.E. Computer Science or B.Sc. Computer Science.

In this article, we will discuss the differences between B.E. Computer Science and B.Sc. Computer Science.

  1. As we all know, B.E is a four year course while B.Sc is a 3 year course.
  2. B.E in Computer Science gives a holistic view of Computer Science which might not be the case with B.Sc in Computer Science
  3. Like any other Engineering courses, B.E. in Computer Science has several papers on Maths as well, while B.Sc. does not cover so much.
  4. B.E also covers Operating System, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity basics etc. while they might not be covered in detail in B.Sc. Computer Science.
  5. Basics of other Engineering branches like Electrical , Electronics also gets covered in B.E
  6. In terms of job heirachy, BE is considered better than B.Sc.

In terms of similarities both cover :

  1. Programming languages
  2. Object oriented Programming

So, to answer the question should I choose BE Computer Science or B.Sc in Computer Science :

  1. Choose BE if you want to have a holistic view
  2. Choose BE if you want wider career options including Infrastructure management or System admin related choices or hardware related jobs later.
  3. Choose B.Sc if you want to become a graduate faster.
  4. Choose B.Sc if you want to work in Programming but not so comfortable in Maths
