Most of the students who had pursued Computer Science in their higher secondary , prefer studying Computer Science in their college as well. One of the questions raised by the Students is should I choose B.E. Computer Science or B.Sc. Computer Science.
In this article, we will discuss the differences between B.E. Computer Science and B.Sc. Computer Science.
- As we all know, B.E is a four year course while B.Sc is a 3 year course.
- B.E in Computer Science gives a holistic view of Computer Science which might not be the case with B.Sc in Computer Science
- Like any other Engineering courses, B.E. in Computer Science has several papers on Maths as well, while B.Sc. does not cover so much.
- B.E also covers Operating System, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity basics etc. while they might not be covered in detail in B.Sc. Computer Science.
- Basics of other Engineering branches like Electrical , Electronics also gets covered in B.E
- In terms of job heirachy, BE is considered better than B.Sc.
In terms of similarities both cover :
- Programming languages
- Object oriented Programming
So, to answer the question should I choose BE Computer Science or B.Sc in Computer Science :
- Choose BE if you want to have a holistic view
- Choose BE if you want wider career options including Infrastructure management or System admin related choices or hardware related jobs later.
- Choose B.Sc if you want to become a graduate faster.
- Choose B.Sc if you want to work in Programming but not so comfortable in Maths
